The first of its kind “IoT Bootcamp & Hackathon using LoRa Technology” was successfully conducted at VNR VJIET in technical collaboration with IDEALABS. More than 120 students from the second, third and final year with interdisciplinary branches of ECE, Automobile, and EEE participated in the 36-hour overnight hackathon.

The uniqueness of this Hackathon is the use of LoRA technology which is the latest standard for communication for IoT applications. The hardware was specially imported from US and Singapore for this Hackathon.

The Hackathon was preceded by a two-day boot camp where mentors from Idealabs trained the students on all aspects of IoT including LoRa Technology.

In a span of 36 hours, the students built some very interesting prototypes ranging from Pipeline leakage detection, Traffic clearance for Ambulances, Dynamic display on highways, Alerting system in mining, Automatic mapping of potholes on Roads, monitoring of water bodies etc to name a few.

The winning teams will be incubated by Idealabs to convert the prototypes into full-fledged products and take them to market. Hyderabad Product leaders, a consortium of product leaders from leading Product companies has committed to collaborating with Idealabs for mentoring of the students.

The idea of such Hackathons is to build and showcase the spirit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship on campus. Seeding the culture of Innovation while the students are on campus is a step in the right direction to create future-ready Engineers and Entrepreneurs.

The Media seems to love Innovation! Happy to see this kind of enthusiasm in media on Innovative activities on Campus.
