Idealabs has conducted a two day (36 hours) Hackathon on IoT and Ai using Alexa technologies VNR VJIET college. The Hackathon was preceded by a two day hands-on bootcamp.
More than 110 students from third year of engineering participated in the Hackathon event which had some very novel ideas like using Alexa for analysing mood of a person, ordering food using Alexa and a voice based social media platform. Some of the other ideas included smart parking, stationary vending machine and smart trolley in shopping malls.
The students used RasberryPI kits, range of sensors, Alexa devices and Amazon Cloud services to build these applications.
The participants were judged by a very distinguished Jury comprising of Investors, Product Leaders, start-up entrepreneurs. They Included Mr. Pankaj Diwan (Founder, Idealabs), Mr. Viiveck Verma (Co-Founder IIIT Seedfund, Director, Hyderabad Angels), Mr. Praveen Upadhyay ( corporate Leader with more than 25 years of experience in large IT Industry), Mr. Kashyap Kompella (Start-up Entrepreneur), Mr. Srinivas (experienced Technocrat)
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Viiveck Verma, a well-known mentor and Investor in the startup ecosystem, who was one of the Jury members, mentioned that he was highly impressed by the quality of problems identified by students and their solution approach and congratulated Idealabs and the college for conducting such events.
Mr. Pankaj Diwan, Founder of Idealabs advised the students to continue the development and complete the prototypes created in Hackathon into full-fledged Products in the next few months.
The Principal of the College Dr.C.D Naidu and Director of Advancement & Dean (administration) Dr. Chennakesava Rao Bandaru urged the students to build these solutions into startups and promised all the support from the institution.
The top teams were given cash prizes by Idealabs and promised support for incubation by Idealabs in collaboration with college.
